Gastrointestinal bleeding is a common cause of admission; it implies a high morbidity and could be lethal. Currently, a significant number of episodes are not definitively assessed in order to determine their anatomical origin, even though there are a considerable diagnostic methods available. The objective of this work is to analyze the role of labelled red blood cells in this setting. Three interesting recent
adult cases studied at the University of Chile Clinical Hospital are presented.
