Aim: To describe clinical and polysomnographic findings in Parkinsonian patients with sleep disorders Methods: We make a sleep study (polysomnogram), a self report questionar y of sleep complaints and severity of Parkinson disease to 5 patients on drug treatment. Two of them spontaneously request medical assistance for these complaints and the other 3 patients were
assessed as par t of pre-surgical evaluation. Most of them were severely affected by the disease according to motor scales.
Results: All patients reported insomnia and a sleep of poor quality, 1 complained of diurnal somnolence, 3 reported acting dreams and 3 were using sleeping pills. PSG showed in all poor efficiency of sleep, delayed latency of onset and superficial sleep. In 3 patients
pathologic PLMS (periodic limb movement of sleep) were recorded, REM behaviour disorder was detected in 1 case and persistence of muscle tone on REM in 4 cases.
Conclusion: All patients had sleep problems, probably secondar y to the disease itself or by medication We emphasize there levance to look for specific manifestations and the importance of polysomnogram in this evaluation.
