Gestión clínica: Comparación de índices de gestión entre maternidades públicas y la maternidad del HCUCh

Abstract

To compare the management indicators from obstetrics health care services by descriptive multivariance statistical techniques During March 2004, the information from type 1 and 2 Public Maternity Hospitals was retrieved. This Hospitals inform in a not classified way its annual obstetrics information. 2001 was the last year with the complete official budget inf ormation f rom al/ the Public Health Care Hospitals available to compare with the Maternity of the University of Chile Clinical Hospital, in the same period. 14 variables generated and monitorized by the National Health Ministry {MINSAL] and the operations division from the University of Chile Clinical Hospital, related to the in bed days, the lethality rote by obstetric· attention and derived complications and from a group of selected diagnosis in order to the international classifícation of diseases {CIE-10). We app/íed principal components {ACPJ from the correlation matrix R. The two f irst principal components were selected wíth a cumulative percentaje of explained variability of 58.01%. The first component is related with the number of in bed days inside the different maternitys . The second principal component represents the /etha/ity rote observed as a consequence of: pregnancy following, delivery and post partum period, abortions, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, delivery or post partum, pregnancy and delivery complications and other complications not specified in other sections. University of Chile Clinical Hospital Maternity has less in bed days and lethality rote in comparison with other public Maternitys from our country.
