The increase of skin cancer reportad world- wide, has motivated the epidemiological research of this neoplasia in Chile. In this study, we analyse the skin cancer by the age of fhe patients. In this article, we analysed 3110 skin tumours retrospectively, registered at four hospitals, Santiago, Chile (1992 -1998). We reviewed 370 malignant melanomas (MM), 779 squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) and 1961 basal cell carcinomas (BCC). The tumours were classified according to the patient's age (younger
than 40 years old, between 40 and 60 years old and over 60 years old). The results require a specific educational programme directed towards the older population of our country.
