Abstract

The estereotaxic neurosurgery of abnormal movements began at the late XXst century losing use with the discovery of L.Dopa (1968). Complications of the medical treatment as advances in the neurosurgical procedures and different technological scientific advances from the last years have given a new impulse to the neurosurgical treatment of abnormal movements. In this article the history of the development of estereotactic functional neurosurgery is briefly reviewed, also the present therapeutic perspective and the development that it has had in our hospital.
