General aspects of Melatonin physiology are revised, focusing on the clinical uses actually discussed. Melatonin has been used to treat many disorders: jet-lag, delayed-sleep-phase syndrome, seasonal affective disorder, as well as others. The majority of these problems are probably related to chronobiological disorders. Treatment for insomnia in the elderly seems to be the least controversial use of Melatonin.
