Abstract

Although life expectancy in the spinal cord injured patients has undergone an important improvement during the last decades, the late complications after the trauma have become an increasingly more common and severe problem, due to the fact that they lead to worse functional conditions, resulting from new disabilities. This article 's authors review the main late complications affecting the spinal cord injured patients, which refer to the most important and best recognized: the neurologic, the musculo-skeletal and the gastrointestinal complications.
