Benzodiazepines have been largely utilized by their extensive spectrum of therapeutic activities. Even few years ago remained open the discussion regarding their potential to generate addiction, question regarding which today doubts do not exist Neurobiological aspects, pharmacological properties, withdrawal syndrome and types of abuse are discussed.
