The clinical manifestations, pathogenesis, diagnosis an treatment of a group fo syndromes occurring due to hereditary, autoimmune, bacterial or viral infections, and trauma causes affecting the salivary glands are studied.
The von Mikulicz syndrome is emphasized because, in our opinion, it is only a leading symntom and not a per se disease.
Finally, we underline the differences between primary and secondary Sjögren's syndrome and also analize its oral manifestations.
