A retrospective study was made, between 1990 and 1998, considering 28 patients diagnosed with osteoarticular tuberculosis (TBC).
The average age of the patients was 49.5 years old, 50% of the patients were female.
The main a reas of the osteoarticulares were: in the hips with 18% and the knee with 14%.
The evolution time from the commenement of the initial symptoms until the diagnosis was on average 21. 5 months, dintinishing to 10.6 months when there was a neurological involvment.
The followed treatment in a large percentage of the cases was associated, meaning the therapy anti TBC and the surgical procedures.
The evolution of the patients was as expected, even though there is a 60% of consequences due to the illnes.
The osteoarticular TBC contintte being a problem, because of the diversity of ways in which it is developed cause a late diagnosis and then an urgent treatment.
