The existence of Mood Disorders of seasonal recurrence is completely demonstrated in the world, being named Seasonal Affective Disorders (SAO).
In Chile, SAO has not been formally described. The present work has for object to study the agreement clinic and therapeutics of a series patient with depressions of winter recurrence, with the characteristics of foreign series of SAO. Twelve patients were recruited with current Major Depression that complied with the international requirements of seasonal recurrence. It was studied their symptoms profile and was evaluated their response to 10 phototherapy sessions according to a standardized protocol. A narrow agreement of the symptoms and phototherapy response with the foreign series was observed. This is the first national series of SAD. Its clinic relevance is discussed.
