Health efficient clinical monagement irwolves the exact knaNtedge of the local epidemiology, to analyse and so/ve the priority problems.
We develop a computer clinical dotabase to ca/culote the relotive frequence of illness during pregnancy, ca/culote health indicotors and to evaluote the clinical performance of the Moternify from the Universidad de Chile Clinical Hospital, in comparison to the Public Hospitals.
The most f requent obste tries procedures were ident if ied and a Clinical Database was designed. A complete registry of the personnal inf ormation of each patient was fullfilled at the first consult, during the hospital izat ion and at the ending of the obstetric attention. Final/y the results were analysed by frequence and compared with the health indicotors from our Country Public Hospitals.
During 2003, 11873 ambulatory consults were carried out, and 39°/o of the pregnancies were characterized as high risk ones. From a total of 355 hospital discharges from our High Risk Obstetric Unít, 54, 92% were pregnancies of more than 28 weeks. 1665 deliveries were assisted in our Maternity during the year, 60, 7% vaginal/y and 39,3% by c-sections.
Relotive frequence of illness during pregnancy and Health care indicotors from our Maternity are not different than our Country Pub/le Hospitals. The development and implementotion of clinical
databases is an efficient method of harboring information that allows a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the obstetric proctice.
