Abstract

Dueto the impact in the feroole morta/ity that cervico-uterine cancer presents a well-knoNn natural history, that evofves from the intraepithelial injuries (/El}, until properly irwading cancer. We wanted to compare the escicional procedures for the handling of /EL, specifically the cold come and the electro surgery handled cone (LEEP), eva/uating the days of hospltalization, the study of the surgical edges and the histologica/ correlation befare and atter surgery. Methods: Retrospectfve study of 96 patients with conization for cervical NIE or micro invading cancer. They were separated in two groups according to treatment and data was registered such as pre and postoperatfve histopathology, hospitalization and surgical. Results: There wasn 't statistically significatfve difference in the pre and post operatory histopathology correlation in both eones (P va/ue=0.16). Differences statistical/y significatfve for the hours of hospitalization (P value <0,05) and for the compromise of surgical edges (P value=0,001). Conclusions: The LEEP cone significantfy disminishes hospital stcy of the pafients wifh this procedJre redJcing the economic costs of the medical attention and allowing an optimization in the use of the beds in the heafth establi11ments. Neverthele:», in the !nmple there is a difficulty in the histological evaluation of the surgical edges, wich is demonstrated by thermal damage in the described cases. This fact has been perfected as it will be seen in a future publication.
