Abstract

The implication of the Helicobacter pylori in the chronic gastritis assets, its association with the gastroduodenal ulcer and its relation with the gastric cancer, has made it one ot the microorganisms of greater interest in human pathology. The experience obtained in the Central Military Hospital of El Salvador through a retrospective, observational study is matter of this report. We analyzed 121 symptomatic patients ot the gastrointestinal tract beturen 01 May 1995 to May 31, 1996. The results were 59 men and 62 women; average ot age 53 showed the 65% of positivity. In conc/usion, the frequence of the Helicobacter pylori is high in the Central Mílitary Hospital of El Salvador and the bacteria shaws relation with peptic ulcer; disease as well as the gastric cancer relation was not shown in this study group.
